The singer released her debut Know It All album in the same year. The third track, Scars to Your Beautiful was one of five songs that reached the top of the charts on Billboard including Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100. This track was special due to her interview with Rap-Up that she gave many of people who listened to her music could relate to her experience in finding love for themselves, and rethinking their beliefs about her. Cara's songs include messages of kindness, self-love and mental health. She has been struggling with insomnia and anxiety, which has influenced her music. In an interview with Reuters she said that her album was "half tumultuous" and "half perfect". She tells people that she discovered her development in therapy. Alessia Cara has been a Canadian artist since 1996. Her parents come from Italian heritage. Her parents gifted her with their first guitar at the age of 10. It was the beginning of her journey musically.
